Anno 1832.

How it all began...

Schönegg near Helfenberg.

In 1832, Franz Viehböck founded a weaving mill in his home and farmhouse. At this time, the name Viehböck was still spelled with a silent "h". The flax was grown and harvested in front of the house. The flax fibers obtained were spun and woven. 38 years after the company was founded, his son Joseph Viehböck took over the business.

Leopold follows.

In 1878, the silent "h" was lost when the baptismal certificate was issued. Leopold Vieböck relocated the business to the nearby village of Helfenberg. The Vieböck linen fabrics were already being sold in the company's own store.

Working from home.

The Vieböcks made additional weaving warps. These warps were delivered to home workers in the surrounding area for weaving. The weavers brought back the finished fabric and received a weaving wage for it.

First collections.

Vieböck fabrics were given predefined article numbers as early as 1905. Leopold Vieböck designed consistent collections. These fabrics were woven again and again.

In the same year, Leopold Vieböck married Maria Steininger. Together they moved to their new home in Helfenberg.

New walls since 1948.

In 1948, the newly built company building was put into operation. With 20 mechanical looms, production was more efficient and economical.

1981

Daughter Christine takes over.

Mrs. Christine Vieböck takes over her mother's responsibilities and becomes the new managing director and owner of the linen manufactory. The corporate culture changes from a pure production company to a service company and many projects are created and successfully implemented. A salesroom was added to the company building.

A new weaving master at Vieböck.

Johann Kobler.

1992 Johann Kobler succeeds the master weaver Josef Fuchs.

The Vieböck linen manufactory found its place at international fabric fairs. New and technically sophisticated fabrics were developed. The installation of an air conditioning and humidification system in the weaving room ensured ecological and environmentally friendly production.

The weaver continues.

Anno 2007.

Together with his business partner Hannes Böck, the long-time master weaver and operations manager Johann Kobler takes over the linen manufactory.

Investments were made in machinery, and the in-housesewing shop and modernized. In the restructured operation, particular attention was paid to regionality and sustainability.
